The “Rohrdommelfläche” (in english: area for the eurasian bittern) is a 2009 artificially created habitat for reed dwellers. A walk on the narrow embankment between the river Nette and the flooded areas leads you directly to open water areas and reed beds, which provide food, breeding ground and hiding place for a variety of birds. There is also an observation hut from where you can watch and photograph the birds. I’ve seen quite a lot of birds there, but never an eurasian bitter 😀.

A large number of geese and ducks also live on the waters and adjacent meadows.

The great crested grebes are always fascinating….

Of course not only birds live here but also other species.
